Buddy Programs Natural.PALS

For a successful start of your studies

The Buddy Programme Natural.PALS establishes contacts between new international students of Biology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and local students as their peer-tutors.
As an international student you benefit from individual and subject-specific support during your first semester: Your “buddy” will assist you with gaining orientation and acquainting yourself with the particularities of Biology studies in Bochum. In joint meetings with other participants you get in touch with both, local and international fellow students.

For regular participation in the programme, you will obtain 4 credit points acknowledged for the Optionalbereich/BioPlus. The application form and further information are available online:

Tandem.MINT

Subject-specific Language Learning Programme for students of Natural Sciences and Engineering

Tandem.MINT gives you the opportunity to test and develop your language skills in exchange with a native speaker. As your tandem partner studies in the same field, you can discuss subject-specific topics and learn specialised language. The tandem resources provided allow you to practice the foreign language with a focus on typical academic and professional contexts in the field of Natural Sciences and Engineering.

Sprachcafé

Language practice meet up

The Sprachcafé is a place where you can practice speaking a foreign language, find suitable conversation partners or learn more about different cultures.

Coffee, tea and entertainment are included. Participation is free of charge!

Every Monday , 5 until 9 pm - during lecture period –

German as a foreign language (DaF)

The courses of the department of German as a foreign language (DaF) are addressed to international students on full time courses, exchange students, students on international programmes (e.g. ERASMUS), Ph.D. students or visiting researchers.

Parallel to your studies, you have the opportunity to extend and to deepen your knowledge of German.
